Outside, Draak watched the familiar saucer shape appear over the treetops. It swung low, and started toward the field where the shuttlecraft sat. The explosion was deafening; the valley caught and sustained its echo far longer than seemed possible. What followed was even worse. A silence so complete, as though there was no sound left in the universe to make.
