Department 56 Margrove Orangery Dickens Village holiday decor Lighted Building from 1999. Beautiful hand painted porcelain building. Citrus was grown in this type of facility partly in order to provide fresh fruit for sailors on long voyages. Sunlight enters the building through three sets of skylights- one at either end and one that makes up the dome. Oranges were sweet treats in Dicken's time, but in old London town, the tropical climate for growing oranges is hard to come by, so the need for an Orangery blossomed. Under the bright light streaming through the glass-like dome, passersby can stop in for their own little piece of the tropics. The Margrove Orangery looks beautiful when lighted. Size: 11" x 6.25" x 7".
This beautiful Christmas collectible makes a classy addition to any village collection. The Margrove Orangery is in good condition for being over 25 years old and has beautiful artwork, color and design, each piece is properly marked on the bottom of the piece.
