Department 56 The Old Globe Theater, Dickens Village lighted Christmas building. Beautiful hand painted holiday decor porcelain building. This set of 4 includes the theatre, 2 trumpeter figures and the sign. This theatre was built circular with the stage on one side. The more expensive seats are on different levels around the perimeter but the cheap seats are standing only area on the ground in the center. Many shows were designed to move down off the stage into the crowd of spectators thus involving them in the live theatre. Many of Shakespeare's plays were performed here. It is made with a timber beam decorative design so popular in Europe. The Globe Theatre, located along the Thames River across from the Tower of London in London, was burned down in 1644 and was rebuilt in 1996 near the original site. The The Old Globe Theater looks beautiful when lit. Size: 10.25" x 5" x 7.5"

This is a very heavy and large piece, it weights almost 9 lbs.
