Department 56 Wayside Chapel, The Original Snow Village lighted Christmas building from 1976. Beautiful hand painted porcelain building. This is 1 of the 6 original snow village buildings produced in 1976 and is also called Country Church. The Chapel has both round and arched windows, a steeple, and a cross over the partly open door. There are two blue birds, one landing and one perched on a bird house at the side, under the painted inscription "Rest Awhile Take Time To See". On the right side is painted "Peaceful Thoughts For Your Journey", and on the front it says, "The Wayside Chapel Welcome Traveler". Vines and painted welcome on walls, short-spired, door ajar, circular upper window, painted side windows, snow-laden tree shades one wall. The Wayside Chapel looks beautiful when lit. If you have a Snow Village collection then you will definitely want on the first buildings in the set to complete your collection! Size: 7" tall x 5" wide.
